Bruno Clément - Directeur de l'UMR 991 - Métabolisme, défenses et cancer

The general project of the unit aims at investigating the main aspects of hepatic metabolism and their impact on the physiology and the pathology of the liver, based on recent advances in cell biology and functional genomics. The goal is to increase the transfer of knowledge from basic research to innovative diagnostic and therapeutic applications for the care of patients suffering of liver diseases. This is supported by the mix of both basic and clinical researchers within each team, involved in projects which were designed, thanks to clinical observations and needs.

It includes four groups gathering researchers, clinicians and surgeons, in connection with CIC Inserm 0203, the Biological Resource Center (Inserm-INCA) and clinical research teams from Pontchaillou Hospital and Centre Eugène Marquis (Regional Centre for the Fight against Cancer).

INSERM UMR 991 is composed of four teams:

Team #1: Iron and the liver: physiological and pathological aspects

Head: Olivier Loréal.

Team #2: Stress, defences and regeneration

Head: Anne Corlu.

Team #3: Hepatotoxicity of xenobiotics: mechanisms and modulation by obesity

Head: Bernard Fromenty

Team #4: Microenvironment remodelling: mechanisms and targeted biotherapies in hepatocellular carcinoma

Head: Bruno Clément.
